We love Jimmy LaValle to death, everything he touched, musically, turned into gold. It didn't matter if it was the crazy spazz-core adventures with Crimson Cure and The Locust, the proto funk-punk escapades with GoGoGo Airheart, the ambient postrock sounds of Tristeza ... hell, even Black Heart Procession sounded better with him on the bass. But nothing beats The Album Leaf, this is where his clasically trained skils, street savvy and all his songwriting talent fused into one beautiful entity. Music from a different planet for yearning earthlings.
INTO THE BLUE AGAIN, the fourth full-length album, sees a return to THE ALBUM LEAF’S conception with LaValle handling virtually all of the instrumental duties.
“…Into the Blue Again finds LaValle at his most intimate with ten mood inducing Boards of Canada-meets-Black Heart Procession tracks that radiate solitude and contemplative living. Consumed with subtle layers of strings and electronics, this otherwise piano-driven gem contains all of the elements that compose timeless, heartfelt records.” – SOMA
The first record on City Slang released in 2004! After years of labor-intensive touring and tinkering with complex tracks in his cramped bedroom studio, LaValle was repeatedly offered a rare invite from Icelandic phenoms Sigur Ros and Mum to record his newest solo opus in their Mosfellsbaer studio. He finally accepted and flew overseas to compose and record "In A Safe Place."
